I'm really excited about an addition I will be making to my website within the next week. I do a lot of reading, exercising, looking at different products, etc. So, I thought I would share a successful nugget each week. It might be a great piece of exercise equipment to try at the gym. It might be a new app to use. It might be a new book to read. I'm just going to talk about and endorse what I have found to be positive nuggets that have been helpful to me that also might be helpful to others.
In addition, I'm going to also have a line of Get To It products. These items are re-purposed items that provide motivational and functional value. I've been working on three pieces and should have them ready to display on Sunday.
Finally, watch for posts about a farmers' market in Arlington (NE). I'm very hopeful that we will have our first market this summer. I'm looking for help from the Washington County Fair Board and/or the Arlington Village Board. I'm looking forward to bringing creative people together in our village and provide a sense of unity and community. More details to come as I have them.
So, I did something scary today. I took pictures of myself in my bikini and posted them on this website under the tab My Journey. However, I needed to do it. I'm in the business of assisting others on setting and meeting goals. What better way to prove my mettle than to set a goal and show my progress over the next month. I'll be the first to admit though that it was a little nerve wracking to post pics of myself looking less than stellar. I'm fairly okay with the way I look at 47, but I know that there are improvements that I want to make. This gives me a chance to do just that.
I'm going to report daily on my exercise and food intake. I had a pretty good food day, but my danger zone is always late in the day. I do a great job of eating at breakfast and lunch, then I seem to lose it with supper and my sweet tooth takes over. I'll be working hard to curb some of those habits and do a more consistent job with protein intake. As a vegetarian, that can be somewhat tricky to get enough protein. One way that I can combat it is by having a protein shake (30 grams!). I'm also going to eat more healthy carbs and increase the vegetables.
On the exercise side, this is a good time to whip myself into shape. I had to face the fact that I'm not ready to run another half-marathon. I seem to have lost my mojo, and I started putting way too much pressure on myself to still try to run it. So, I took a step back. I want to enjoy running again, and right now I'm not enjoying it. It's time to remember why I started doing it in the first place and why I love it. Plus, I plan to get back to my weightlifting routine. That routine has been very inconsistent.
It's scary when you have to admit your own shortcomings, but that is the first step in making changes. If I want to do a great job for my clients, I need to do a great job for myself. Welcome to My Journey!
