This one is tough for many reasons.
We want everyone to understand our point of view...and agree with it.
We want to fix everything.
We want to make everything right.
We want to make everyone happy.
Trying to control everything is exhausting for one thing, but more importantly and quite simply, it just can't be done. No matter how hard we try, we absolutely cannot control everything.
So, what can we control?
We can control how we react when someone doesn't understand or (dare I say) agree with our point of view.
We can come to grips with the fact that we can't fix everything, we can't make everything right, and we can't make everyone happy.
When we realize that we can only control ourselves, suddenly things become much easier. We're able to relax and let the rest go.
We can resolve to be our very best selves each day, one day at a time. We can only control the woman or man looking back at us in the mirror.
So, it does no good to compare ourselves to others, because when it comes right down to it, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is this, "Am I a better person than I was yesterday?"
That's what we can control.
