Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAG) are scary, especially when you make them public. I decided to make my BHAG public on Facebook today with a quick one minute video. My fitness goal for the upcoming year is to log 2,016 miles through running, walking, rowing, elliptical, and bicycling.
One of the podcasters I listen to, Doug Hay (co-host for No Meat Athlete), wrote a blog about participating in 12 one-month challenges. The challenge for the first month is to run for 30 days straight.
I got started this morning with running a 5K. It was a brutal run with wind, some trail running on the country roads, hill work, and dodging ice patches. However, I did it and it felt better than I thought it would. I'm really excited about this challenge, and I know that I can do it by going one day at a time.
Lesson learned: Take a BHAG and break it down into smaller chunks.
What is a goal that you have that you need to break down into smaller chunks? How are you doing to do it?
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
