Okay, stick with me on this one.
I listened to a podcast this morning, and it was super early...like 5:00ish and I was out for a run. With that being said, I might not have all the facts on this one completely right, but it's interesting nonetheless.
The person being interviewed on The 5AM Miracle (Jeff Sanders' podcast...great podcast, by the way but I digress) was Jesse Itzler. Itzler is a super interesting guy and wrote the book, Living with a SEAL.
Itzler talked about how we all think we're working super hard and that we're giving it all we've got. Now, this is the part where I was probably not quite awake, because I'm not sure where he pulled this stat from but when he said it I think I woke right up.
Itzler said that when we think we're giving it our all, we're actually only using 40% of our potential.
Say that again?
Yep, ONLY 40%.
Well, that was certainly humbling to hear. I mean, I feel like I work pretty hard and I know I could do more, but wow. At my best I'm only operating at 40%?
Then I started to really think about it, and I get it. I got home tonight at around 6:00 and by the time we finished supper it was almost 7:00. I was tired and all I really wanted to do was plop on the couch and hang out. I felt like I had worked hard today. Then I painted part of the dining room, washed dishes, fed the animals, and then gave myself 10 minutes on Facebook. Now I'm working on my blog post.
Just when I thought I was done for the night, I found that I had more left in the tank.
So, the next time you're wondering if you have anything left, the answer is, yes you do...60% more.
