Yesterday was my last official day of summer vacation, and I truly made it the kind of day I absolutely love.
One of my activities was taking a walk out to the cemetery. On my way, I happened upon this rock. I got a couple of steps by it, and then retreated to pick it up.
It resembles a heart, but if you look closely it's pretty misshapen.
I thought about how that rock is a lot like life. It is nowhere near perfect. There are rotten things that happen in our lives that we don't understand. There is hardship and heartache. Tough stuff.
Then there's the awesome stuff. The amazing parts of life we sometimes take for granted. The absolute WOW moments.
And then there's the stuff in between. Not rotten, not amazing. Neither high nor low. Many of our days are like that, but I'm realizing more and more that those in between are really the amazing days. Those little gems that we don't recognize as gems until much later.
Instead of the extreme highs and lows, I challenge each of us to take the in between days and find something amazing about each one. There's a lot to be thankful for and appreciate.
Sometimes I forget that, but today I was reminded by a beautiful, misshapen heart-shaped rock.
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
