In my heart I've always been a writer.
Even during the dormant years when I was a high school teacher and coach, I still found an outlet to write through the many journals I filled over the years.
Even as I became and elementary school counselor and started Get To It as a life coaching business, I dabbled in blogging.
And now, after 24 years in education (and counting, I'm not giving up my day job yet) and 3 years of my business evolving, I am most definitely a writer.
And, I found a quote that describes exactly how I feel:
"Never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do." H. Jackson Brown.
I think everyone needs a quote that drives, motivates, and makes you want to get out of bed everyday. It needs to be in a spot where you can see it daily. Mine is on the desk where I'm currently working.
I see it everyday. I see it on the days when maybe I'm stuck and not sure what my writing topic is going to be. I see it on the days when I need to do some editing and don't want to, but I know it's part of the writing process. I see it on the days when I'm unsure and wonder if this is what I'm really meant to do.
Deep down I know though.
Writing has been a part of my entire life. I found ways to incorporate writing into the sports I coached with my players. I currently find ways to instill that love of writing with my elementary students during classroom counseling lessons.
Writing is in my bones.
We all have that certain something in our hearts that perhaps we have not been doing, because we felt the odds were too great.
I was there too, but I'm not anymore. This quote helps me to see daily that I can't deny what has been there all along.
It's time to do what I was meant to do.
I'm a writer.
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
