As I sit here on the couch nursing myself back to health, I'm drinking a cup of hot tea wrapped up in a blanket watching the San Diego vs. Denver game with my hubby.
Even though I still feel foggy, I'm also very much at peace and happy. I write a lot about making choices to lead a more positive life. I really feel like much of it has to do with simplifying.
By simplifying I mean getting rid of the excess. It could mean getting rid of the material possessions we don't use or need anymore. I keep pairing down what is in my closet and dresser. I have finally gotten down to half a closet of hanging clothes, but don't you dare ask me about shoes. I'm a work in progress, and clothing is just one aspect of possessions I'm attacking.
It could mean letting go of relationships that no longer have a positive place in your life. Sometimes these are super tough choices, because these are people who have been in your life a long time or maybe they are relatives. Maybe getting rid of the relationships aren't possible, but you can limit the opportunities or the time you spend with them.
It could mean getting rid of excess debt so that you're not beholden to the almighty dollar. I'm currently working on that one. My goal is to turn my art into my commodity, but I can't do it realistically until I have some personal debt taken care of. Believe me, I'm thankful to be married to a man who is a saver. I'm definitely the spender. My goal is to have all my debt paid off by the time I turn 50...I have a little over a year to accomplish that. And, I have a plan for doing so.
The gist of this is that when we find ways to simplify our lives, they become a lot less complicated and that's exciting to me.
How are you simplifying your life?
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
