Whether or not we realize it, we learn something new daily. We simply don't look for it. So, I'm going to try a new feature called, Daily Learnings. I will blog about it here, and we'll see how it goes.
So, what did I learn today?
I learned just how much I absolutely enjoy teaching a class for Wayne State College. I'm teaching Elementary School Counseling to grad students working on their counseling degree. I like it so much, because I feel as if I learn more from these amazing educators than the nuggets they get from me.
Being able to teach a class like this renews my energy for another year of school counseling. I have no idea how to bottle that up and dip into on the days when I wonder what in the world I'm doing, but I wish I could figure it out.
We've been talking a lot about advocating for our profession this week. I still feel there is a stigma when it comes to school counselors, and we have an intense responsibility at the elementary level. We lay the foundation for stakeholders' first impressions of the school counseling profession. We can either pave the way for a positive experience or dig a hole for school counselors in the secondary levels. That's a lot of weight to carry.
And that's what I learned today.
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
