Okay, so sometimes I like to do those little quizzes, predictions, etc. on Facebook. I'm convinced that it's all pretty random when my mood color is predicted or my evil twin is revealed.
And then there are those times when I stop dead in my tracks and think, "Yeah, that's pretty much spot on!"
The latest one that made me stop for pause was called, "What is Your Life Quote this Christmas?"
My quote was, "Don't wait around. There is no such thing as the right time."
Hmmm...I've been doing a lot of pondering lately about stepping up my efforts on my side hustle. And when I say pondering, it means I've been dragging my feet. I keep asking myself, "Can I really do this?"
Reading between the lines, it means that I've been doubting myself, which is not how I roll. I think a lot of it has to do with uncertainty. There are absolutely no guarantees, which is both exciting and scary at the same time. But as I've read many times in personal and professional growth books, if your dreams don't scare you a little then they aren't big enough.
You see, I started my side hustle, Get To It, three years ago, because I wanted to work with people in a way that added value to their lives. The original intent was to have a life coaching business. I've had modest success with some amazing clients! However, I've also learned that life coaching is still relatively new in the Midwest.
I have always been passionate about writing, and so I have stepped up my efforts to cultivate writing about positivity and living a simple life. Since March 2015, I have been writing two columns a month for two local newspapers with a potential readership of 5,000-7,000 (just my rough estimate). I've also been consistently writing more blog posts here and have added content to Medium.com.
My goal is to do more freelance writing. My husband loves what I'm doing but mentions routinely, "We have to figure out a way for you to get paid for your writing." I'm generating some ideas to get me there and I'm super excited about them.
The biggest idea I have, though, is to add a professional development piece that could potentially eclipse both coaching and writing.
I'm getting closer to the precipice, and I'm going to leap, be pushed off, or slip off.
Stay tuned to see which one happens!
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
