It's no secret that I love listening to podcasts, but I've finally narrowed it down to listening to five of them. One of them is "1 Simple Thing" with Dave Kirby. This week he has been interviewing Scott Halford who wrote the book, Activate Your Brain.
In yesterday's podcast, Scott talked about the importance of sleep on our brain. He gave some great advice about how to get a quality night's sleep each night:
3 hours before you plan to go to sleep, stop food intake. Eating needs to be done by this time. So, if you plan to go to bed at 10:00, stop eating by 7:00.
2 hours before bed drink only water. So, drink water after 8:00 until you go to bed.
1 hour before bed cut all screen time. Shut down your computer, TV, phone, etc.
I really like this concept a lot and it's easy to follow. It's like counting down to a good night's sleep.
I add in one more step that is like my blast off and that's to do one more round of meditation. I lie down, put on nature sounds using my Calm app, and relax my mind and body for 10 minutes before I go to sleep. It's like the final step before I drift off.
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
