Three simple words yet they said so much to me. When I was at Walmart today--I know, crazy to go to Walmart three days before Christmas-- I was heading to the front doors of the store in the light rain when I heard the familiar ringing. At this time of year, that sound comes from the Salvation Army bell ringers. I always make sure that I have dollar bills in my purse, because my goal is to put a dollar in every time I go to a store that has a bell ringer. So, as soon as I heard the ringing, I opened my billfold and grabbed a dollar bill. When I reached the door, I put it in the kettle, and the young man who was ringing and I exchanged, "Merry Christmas" to each other. Then he took it a step further with, "God bless you." Those three words reminded me once again why we celebrate Christmas and it was as if my entire outlook changed as I went into the store. My head cleared, I felt patient, and I enjoyed the whole experience. I'm hopeful that in some way my actions paid it forward in the way I treated others because of the way that young man treated me.
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
