Monday is the day of the week I feel sorry for the most. No one likes Monday. It means the start of the work week. It signifies the end of the weekend. I've never heard anyone say, "Hooray, today is Monday, my favorite day of the week!!" Plain and simple, it gets a bad rap.
I used to feel the same way, but I don't anymore. I've changed my mindset in a couple of ways, thanks in part to my daily mentor Darren Hardy (publisher of Success magazine). Hardy challenged us to figure out our schedule for the following week on Friday before we leave work for the weekend. I had always subscribed to looking at my week on Sunday night, and that's probably why I was always in a panic when Monday morning rolled around and I still wasn't quite sure about all the details for the week. So, I started to plan the details for the next week on Friday afternoons at the end of the work day. Sure, I would love to race out of the parking lot and start my weekend, but it sure feels a lot better walking out of the building knowing that I'm ready to go when Monday morning hits.
The second change I've made personally is to not put all of the house cleaning chores on Sunday. I used to do that as well, and so then Sunday came and I either hated it because I had so much cleaning to do, or we would be at a family function on and so then the housecleaning got put off which I also hated. It was definitely a lose-lose situation. So, I changed my housecleaning to be done throughout the week. I just do a little each night, and then I don't have anything to do on Sunday. It makes it more relaxing and then I can ease right into Monday.
So, instead of looking at Monday as the dreaded start of the week. I now look at Monday with a new lens, one that sees endless possibilities.
I'm a lover of life, an eternal optimist, and I have an intense desire to add value through simple living and positive vibes.
